Some books put Cavaliers at the top of the intelligence scale, while others have them in the middle of the pack.

I find that training can affect the intelligence of your Cavalier; the more you train your dog, the smarter he/she gets.

Training gives a dog confidence. The best way to handle a timid or fearful dog is to enroll in a class where they use positive reinforcement. Training your timid and fearful dog will prevent that behaviour turning to fear induced aggression.
